The #VeganMove Part I

  • Personally I think D.C. is underrated for all that it offers in its food culture. Whether you’re looking for a late night falafel after clubbing, or a brunch spot to take care of the hangover from said night of clubbing, you WILL find the perfect spot in this district. Also underrated, D.C.’s trendy vegan spots. Lucky enough for you (and myself) I have tried what I believe to be the top three best vegan spots in D.C.

  1. Fare Well

    1. This place has everything from buffalo cauliflower dip to boozy milkshakes AND extraordinary vegan brunch. It’s located on H Street around the NoMa district, and is worth the venture. My favorite dish of which I highly recommend would be the mouthwatering french toast sticks. They are served with maple cinnamon butter and sweet cream cheese frosting. Only setback of this amazing restaurant is that they do not take weekend reservations, so be sure to get there early!

  2. HipCityVeg

    1. Located right by the Chinatown Metro stop and now a new location in DuPont Circle, HipCityVeg is one of my favorite “fast food” vegan spots. With its origins stemming from Philly, this trendy spot serves plant based nuggets, and my personal favorite, the Ziggy Burger. Another shoutout to this all vegan restaurant, their packaging is all compostable!  “By choosing vegan ingredients and compostable materials, we’re creating a new normal that’s better for ourselves and the world we live in.” - HipCityVeg

  3. Chaia Tacos

    1. As much as Guapo’s holds a special place in my heart for Mexican food, I’m going to have to say that Chaia Tacos is taking over. This taco shop serves tacos made entirely with vegetables. This “farm-to-taco” joint resides in both Chinatown and Georgetown. As the Georgetown spot is a bit of a nicer ambiance, I’d recommend the Chinatown location as they have happy hour and a bit of a wider variety menu for those friends who aren’t fully jumping on the vegan bandwagon. Their menu is quite eclectic as my favorite taco is the Creamy Kale & Potato, a little different from your everyday run of the mill taco options. Another great perk is that they have college friendly prices!

Since the start of our freshmen year in the fall of 2018, we noticed the social miscommunication among students in the district. Being freshmen in the capital, there are so many things that are offered but no platform that organizes it for college students. After becoming...
